Canon recently released the Pro-1000 printer as part of a new series that includes the Pro-2000 and Pro-4000 wide format printers. The Pro-1000 is a 17 inch desktop behemoth that has one glaring fault, it can only print to 22 inches in length. Given that many of the images photographers will want to print have a 3:2 aspect ratio, it is beyond baffling why the driver doesn’t allow for at least 24 inch output. Not being able to print a 16×24 on a 17 inch printer is inexcusable. But Canon has a long history of handicapping their lower products to drive customers toward the next product up.
